Who likes blood with their Thanksgiving Turkey?

Monday 8 December 2003

Thanksgiving 2003 was celebrated with recent news that November had been the deadliest month so far for US KIA (Killed in Action)in Iraq, with casulaties being between 84 and 105 killed. And now the good old Body Count has begun for Iraqi "Insurgents"’ bodies as well.

The first Thanksgiving is usually understood as a feast of reconciliation between Amerindians and setllers. It was in fact celebrated the first 100 years since 1637 to commemorate the genocide of an entire Pequot Amerindian village by European mercenaries during a feast of their own. (A study was made by anthropologist William Newell).

If Thanksgiving is about washing off blood and guilt, I wonder if its effects can go all the way over to the Middle East...
