Tax money used in secret deals between US government and arms industry

Wednesday 26 November 2003

In the section "How the federal US government screws its citizens", a new secret deal has been revealed at the Senate involving the department of Defense and the Boeing arms company. This adds to the series of corporate scandals which have plagued the US economy since 2000, and is further evidence on the ability the arms industry has in influencing governmental decisions.

Boeing was indeed to sell 100 boeing 767s for approximatively 23 billion dollars, much, much higher than the regular price on the market. After the secret deal broke out, the Department of Defense reacted by buying fewer planes and saving over 4 billion dollars on its share of the US federal budget.

32 administration high officials today are former representatives from arms companies such as Boeing, Northtrop, Lockheed, etc. Last year Northtrop had already benefited from a similar deal.

Meanwhile, it has been estimated that with the Afghan and Iraqi wars, the federal debt of the US will have doubled by 2008, reaching approximatively 8.4 trillion dollars.

And who will pay for this?...What?? The welfare system?
